why did you choose to use Italki? and not something else?

Because I like to talk about my favourite food, give titles of my favourite books and films. I also like reading announcements.

Well, I choosed italki because I read some article about this site. I found it good since it easy to look for a teacher, book a lesson and pay through PayPal. I also like to correct some notebook entries and write my own notebook entries. During one year, I took 165 lessons.

I used to enjoy a lot the discussion section. I changed my mind since during this month of April some 15 persons got banned definitely or suspended temporarily (including myself) for no reason at all. We were accused of not having respected italki guidelines. So I hesitate to write again any post because I am afraid that some vicious troll will flag me once more. All the pleasure is gone. Once I will finish the lessons for which I already paid I will look for another similar website. There are many!

I love to read about others complaining about not being able to find a free teacher. No other site has as many of those posts.l I live for that.

What happened (re: random mass banning) definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and made me, shall we say, less enthusiastic about supporting Italki as a business. But the thing is, my Russian teacher is pretty much irreplaceable to me. (I still can't believe my luck!) If I were to stop taking lessons from her in order to punish Italki, well, I'd hurt myself a lot more than I'd hurt Italki. So, I'll stick around (at least for Russian). But only because this one particular teacher happens to be amazing.
