The Violent Life of Mr Carrot - A Short Story
It all began in the spring.
It was the best of times.
Throughout the warm summer months, I grew from a wee seed into a beautiful mature orange carrot.

Then one day, I was ripped from my home (the soil).
It was the worst of times.

Then I was brutally cut with a sharp knife into a million pieces.
Oh, the pain (Do vegetables and plants have feelings?)

Now, if that wasn't enough suffering for one day, I was then dropped into boiling water.
Oh, the excruciating pain.

And after several minutes I was removed from the scorching water, only to be eaten.
I was chewed and crushed between many teeth.
Oh, the unbearable agony.

Now, most people would agree that I (Mr. Carrot) had endured enough pain and suffering for one day, but there was one last painful challenge awaiting me.

Once swallowed, I entered the human's stomach where I was immediately metabolized in a bath of acid.
Oh, the indescribable agony.
Oh, the humanity...

It was the worst of times.

Richard, I hope you know you are going to be reincarnated as a carrot after making this thread. I hope it was worth it.

Why, Michael? I believe it's quite safe to discuss the plight of vegetables? As long as it's done consensually? Obviously, discussions on pizza toppings should be off limits, as one man's soy-based ham and pineapple will inevitably be another woman's capers and eco-certified anchovies. Then, a lively discussion might ensue, disrupting this site's thoroughly peaceful learning atmosphere.

"Once swallowed, I entered the human's stomach where I was immediately metabolized in a bath of acid."

So it's not exactly a carrot that is telling the story, right? Is it out yet, btw?

I promise Susanne that I will never ever start a thread on Pizza toppings again. It will desappear in less then 24 hours. Did you think of the pain of those poor tomatoes cut into slices? The distress of poor mother cow who had to give her precious milk to make mozzarella? And those criminals who want a Napoletana killing all those anchovies that were swimming happily in the ocean?

No, no! All this thinking will prevent me to study my target languages today.

I consider converting myself to Breatharianism. Oups ! Religious discussions are forbidden by the TOS .
