Obviously I have too much free time on my hands...

Just out of curiosity I looked at the first and second pages of Discussions.

I noted the countries that the posters came from/I noted the countries from which the posters came.

The result (the statistics/the stats) were interesting.

Guess what countries the posters came from and guess which country had the largest number of posters.

@Adam

If I'd project my bad experiences online on a whole group of people I'd have to say "Men are stalkers, trolls and scammers who are just trying to flirt with you and are after your money." 90 % of my bad experiences were with men. Nevertheless I dont think it'd be justified to condemn all men based on a couple of subjective experiences. It's a pity that you made such bad experiences with trolls and scammers but I made great Russian friends here and experienced the Russian users as very friendly and eager to help. A couple of bad apples don't mean that the majority of users from a certain region are bad.

Richard, I see huge influx of Russian speakers this month, especially many language partners requests. It used to be Brazilians:)
I wonder why... Did Italki start a campaign in VK (a Russian analog of FB)?  Or did it buy a place in sponsored links for English-related search lines in Yandex? This is the most popular search engine here.

I'm surprised that Brazilians are stil leading.

@Adam

Your aversion against Russians gets old.

Hmm, so Russians are the most active and dedicated language learners here on italki. They always have been.:)

Richard, east Asians people are a bit shy to open a discussion or participate on discussion forum, but you can find them on notebook entry and answers sections.

Adam, I've skimmed through those profiles and I can see from them that they are actually learning English and just want to find someone to practice with. They don't look like trolls, scammers, or hackers, just like any other learners. If there is something suspicious about their profiles that caught your attention, I'd love to hear.

(And everybody knows that most scammers here on italki are those military American men who served in Afganistan...)
