I think you need to be more discerning. Look for someone around your age, and of the same gender, with similar interests.  This has worked for me.

Currently, you all don’t allow others to send you private messages. As non-premium users can only send out 2 friend requests per day, it would be better if you switched your contact permissions in your privacy settings from „friends only“ to „anyone“. This way you can all contact each other directly.
