Incompetence and Negligence
The South Korean government lacked adequate emergency protocols and proper communication between agencies. They rejected outside help - from expert civilian divers and the U.S. Navy - and gave rescue rights to a private company in which the government is a major shareholder. The bungled rescue efforts demonstrated the lack of leadership, incompetence, and negligence of the Park Administration.
Media Censorship and Manipulation
Criticism of President Park's handling of the ferry disaster is being silenced by government censorship of South Korea's mainstream media. Online videos and commentaries exposing the truth behind the failed rescue operations have been deleted from the web.
The mainstream media has served as the government's mouthpiece by releasing disingenuous news stories that have misled public opinion. A video footage of President Park comforting a relative of a ferry victim was later found to have been staged for the mainstream media. In fact, the woman in the video had no connections to anyone aboard the ferry.
In order to prevent public discusstion. members of President Park's party have introduced a bill that, if passed, would allow the authorities to fine or arrest anyone spreading rumors that may contain false information related to the ferry disaster.
Controlling the media. Manipulating public sentiment. Ignoring the public interest.
President Park's behavior is reverting the country back towards South Korea's authoritarian past.
Koreans are outraged because they see democracy regressing.
We demand an immediate end to the South Korean government’s control of the media, censorship of the truth, manipulation of public opinion, and suppression of the public’s freedom of speech.

Analysts say that the security of the Turkish mines is far behind other industrial countries. The worst mining disaster was in 1992. 270 miners died in Zonguldak on the Black Sea.
Today, I've heard another sad news from TV news.
Sad to say, in Turkey -- The Brother Country of Korea, coal mine disaster happened. About two hundred people died, and more than 400 people are still underground.
Ah! How could these kind of things happen?! Recently, too many terrible things are happening around the world.
I hope that all those people who are underground will come back their home safely, as soon as possible.

The truth will always be discovered.
They could have been saved :( Koreans are not disgraceful, the president is disgraceful. Keeping quiet is disgraceful. Does prosperity always produce corruption? It's not only your country.
It is not disgrace for Korea but for people in goverment. I have read that this is not the first time it happened but if people on position don't care enough to make some changes and new regulations, then this kind of thing will happen again.
