Tips to continue to study Japanese

Why studying Japanese seems quite difficult for you? Or rather why studying a language can be difficult for us in general?

Well, we oftentimes talk about the reason why. Some people might say it's because you don't speak the language as much as you can while some other people might say it's simply because you don't study much. It's almost impossible to say what is the best tip since we are all different. Some of us like to enjoy speaking while some prefer to study. This time, let's take a look at how Japanese people basically study English and get some tips from that to make your learning effective.

1 Reading, reading, reading, and Reading?

What's often talked about how Japanese people learn English is that we just read though sometimes we write in English. What kind of tips will you give us if you were a teacher? Well, based on my experiences, I heard tons of you say that Japanese should stop just studying grammar or something instead they should speak. Well, it's never wrong. We have to speak English much more.

However, if we look at the other side of it, we at least can read and it means a lot. It means that we know some grammar or vocabulary to speak the language. Why we can read English? It's because we somehow studied English. So what I want to say here is that yes! we have to speak but at the same time we also have to study to speak the language.

If some of you noticed that you're not improving that much though you're speaking the language, maybe it's time to think about what you can or what you have to do to improve.

2 A tip to continue to study Japanese

So we all know about the importance of studying and speaking the language, but there's another that we have to think about. Sometimes studying a language can be quite boring as opposed to how it seems.

When you decided to study Japanese or English, it must have been like you were so much motivated to speak the language or study the language, meaning you were intrinsically motivated to take any challenges regardless no matter how difficult they can be.

For some of you, it must be easy to overcome those challenges because of their inner motivations, but I suppose there are some who fail at those and quit studying the language.

For those who have quit studying or almost quit doing that, I can recommend one tip that is to find a good language partner or a teacher with whom you can study the language.

Here's why, but before answering the reason, let's look at this.

What do you think the graph is all about?

It shows that the more you study the language, the more you'll successfully continue to study that.

Going back to why you should make a great language partner or a teacher, this all boils down to the fact, “The longer you study a language, the more you'll successfully continue to study it.”

Believing in this, I recently started to take some lessons a day to study accounting. I know myself that I have a chance that I won't study it. That's why I take a class to make this opportunity as a pacemaker to study.

I allot some time to study it a day and make a rule to study that before the class and after the class. So what's good about it is that I can study accounting for almost 2 hours per a class.

Some of you might be wondering whether to take a class or not or to make language partners or not, I'll assure you that by doing that, you'll succeed continuing to study the language.

So, to whom do you think I recommend taking classes the most? Well, I would say that especially beginner students should. As the graph shows, what you have to do is just to continue to study the language, so to help you to achieve that, I suggest that you take that chance to make it a rule or habit to study and it will lead you to a point where you won't need a teacher as much as you used to. If you could study some things before the class and practice them, that's perfect!

Excelleny post, たつ先生。Every word is true. And to others that are looking for a dedicated and motivated teacher, Tatsu is one you are looking for. He is a teacher that constantly looks to improve for his students, and puts himself in their perspective, because he knows what it is like. That kind of teacher is a valuable one.
