Forgiveness should comes first! Forgetting takes time or in some cases it might not be a good idea to forget. But forgiveness helps reduce the pain or burden.

I think forgetting makes forgetting a lot easier. If you hold a grudge against someone, it will probably have more effect on you than on the other person. They move on and forget about what they do, but if you decide to keep it against them, then you have to live with the constant anger, pain or whatever it might be. Some people think that if you don't forget you have not forgiven, but I think that this is not necessarily true. You can forgive without forgetting completely. Once you 'forgive' something, it is easier to let it go and earn back your inner peace. :)

I forgive but I never forget.

You should not forget for what you should forgive ( and why also) :)
