Now, I just found this out today, while scrolling through my queue (dig my rhymes?). Anyway, I noticed that several major Korean dramas, including Secret Garden, Boys Over Flowers, and City Hunter, among others, will seem to be taken off of Netflix by June 1, 2014. This made me fling into a sort of frenzy, considering the K-dramas I listed I have not actually seen, however, they were highly recommended.
I'm not pleased about it, and wanted to know if anybody had more information on this topic, or if anybody else had the same amount of disdain when they found out about this. It especially sucks for me because I have picked up on quite a bit of the Korean language by simply watching K-dramas like these over the course of the last 4 months. Beside the fact that they are entertaining, they have been useful in my learning of the Korean culture and language. Any thoughts?
If you don't mind not using Netflix, there's a website called Viki that offers the three dramas you mentioned above plus a whole bunch of other great Korean dramas! If you have an iphone, definitely download the app b/c you can avoid waiting for ads to finish playing (or you could just purchase a membership).
Watching K-dramas has definitely helped me familiarize myself with how Korean sounds and I've been told that watching shows in a language that one hopes to learn, definitely helps in the language learning process!
Sorry for not really addressing the whole Netflix situation your discussion was supposed to be about. I figured it'd be nice to share the website that I rely on for K-dramas!
I noticed the same thing. I've been meaning to watch Secret Garden for a long time. But My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (which I just started watching again because it's my favorite ㅠㅠ) and Boys over Flowers I really wish they would keep. I'm so sad to see them go! I prefer to watch from my TV (via Roku) while I study on my laptop though. :(

Yeah, no doubt that's the case. Even if shows like the ones you mentioned, which I enjoyed, are taken off, perhaps seeing some demand for Korean content will get other good shows or movies on there.
Yes indeed I will do so. From my understanding, I think there were some contractual obligations that Netflix cannot adhere to, for whatever reason, regarding the retention of these shows. It's disappointing, to say the least.
