Have you ever feel embarrassed as for talking in a foreign language with others?

I ask about this because it happens to me. More with French. In class I prefer not to talk in order to avoid making mistakes. I feel stupid without reason. But I know that I'm the one who will lose the opportunity.

Did/Do you feel like that at the beginning? How could you let this feeling go? Thanks for your opinion and time :))

I think this is an inevitable process when we are learning a new language. Before we master it, we have to practise it more so that make lots of mistakes. Just be brave and persist, embarrassment is not a big deal.

No, I never felt embarrassed. I dont think it has much use explaining you why.. But I am used to speak different languages on for example holidays since I was 11 or so. I am used to speak and not knowing all vocabulary and not knowing all grammar.

I never feel embaressed to talk with a native speakers. I am kind of enjoying making mistakes with them so we get an opportinity to laugh on ourselves :)

But on the other hand, I agree with Misaki, I don't like to speak infront of one of my family even though they couldn't understand me. It is weired and strange and I want to forget this.

I think it's natural to be embarrassed while talking to a native speaker. But I have another problem. I feel really embarrassed when someone hears me talking with a native speaker. For example, if a member of my family hears me speaking with a Japanese person, I feel embarrassed and I don't want to continue talking in front of him/her. Although none of them knows Japanese, so even if I made mistakes, they won't realize that and won't laugh at me! But it's impossible for me to talk in front of them!

Does anyone have the same problem? Or is it just me?
