Hey everyone-- I was up too late screwing around online and found this video I think may be of interest to those of you learning English.
I know American's aren't the only one's who speak English natively, but here is an interesting comparison of dialects and word choice in the States.

I guess this applies to any language-- Do you become confused or run into this problem as you seek verbal help from community tutors in different places?
It is good, of course, to hear the language spoken by as many different people as possible. This way you can train your ear, and understand the subtle differences.
Just so you know-- people do say that Cleveland (my hometown!) has one of the best accents for broadcast TV. This does not make it superior to the others, but possibly one of the more crisp patterns of English speech. But all perspectives are welcome and valued. Let me know what you think, and how you deal with such variations.

I don't know about English, but I speak Spanish at home and there are some accents from some countries that I understand easily and some that I have to ask them to slow down and repeat themselves, even though I am a heritage learner, which is someone who learned to hear it and understand but not necessarily speak it. Accent can change a lot.

Yea, thanks for your input. I know these are slight variants. The accents used here are very different, to my native English ear. I was just curious if anyone was struggling with that, I think it makes listening more difficult, that's all

The video is more about idiomatic expressions rather than dialects.
Idiomatic expressions are lacking in importance. Even dialect is not of specific importance because nobody is limited to a specific dialect, at least not for English. In our modern world, one can study
the same vocabulary in all the dialects. Regarding them, the differences are usually not critical.
Those are minor nuances.
