try starting by learning some basic phrases from a phrasebook or something online. Theres actually a ton of stuff out there especially for really basic parts of the language. after you feel comfortable with that try going back and learning some grammar. if you speak well (even the basics) youll probably see that the grammar just makes sense. this is a really good site for frenc grammar by the way: http://www.laits.utexas.edu/fi/home
