yes, sometimes they can replace each other and other times they cannot.

It really depends A LOT on; time, place, meaning etc.

Example;

1. Then I will not tell you either, since you are so stubborn

2. Then I will not tell you either, because you are so stubborn

both sentences refers to him/her being stubborn is the reason why, he/she will not tell him/her. It's just two different ways of saying it.

1. but "since" gives us the impression that he/she didn't know that he/she was stubborn.

2. whilst "because" tells us that he/she already knew he/she was stubborn.

Context can decide how it is interpreted.
