Ignore the reactionary stupidity above. Whatever your political views, Obama's speeches are written with the help of accomplished professional writers who know their craft. You can learn a lot from a careful study of them, especially if you get a book on rhetoric as a study aid (there are many free ones online).

  Obama  has never written a  "famous" speech.   The man  cannot think on his feet and none of his speeches will ever go down in history as "famous".  Everything the man ever wrote  is eminently forgettable.

     So,  of course what Obama  writes is "simple".   An elementary school student could probably understand the man.   Look at his  absurd campaign slogan; 

  "The---Time---Has---Come----For---Change.

 I mean,   really!

It is a good idea to learn some knowledge about rhetoric, and I think it must be helpful to my wirting, whereas I have not read any book about it yet. 

Also, the vedio resources from TED are wonderful, I uauslly watch them too.

Because I am an English non-native speaker, his speeches, especially the pragmatic, understandable wording, mean a lot to me as an intermediate level learner.

P.S. I remmember we talked about something about the language group. Do you start to plan for it?

You are referring to one of the most unpopular presidents in American history.

It may be true that his speeches are easily understood; but then,  so  are songs

and essays  commonly produced for the study of English.
