Correct me if I’m wrong!
The question of whether the benefits of large businesses outweighs its drawbacks has been sparking debate for several years. Although many people held positions for small businesses in ancient times, large businesses have increased intensively recently. This essay will highlight the advantages and disadvantages of working at reputable big corporations.
A variety of merits are created by working in big companies. For starters, personnel can acquire knowledge and practical skills. White collar workers at Google and Amazon, for example, can be more professional in sales and marketing, which definitely results in becoming more experienced in these fields. Furthermore, it is often claimed that workers can get well-paid jobs, whereas in small corporations, the staff have dead-end jobs and they might be overworked and underpaid.
On the other hand, one potential stumbling block is that there is a hierarchy in big companies, which means there is a nepotism at the workplace. The employer, for instance, prefers their relatives over other skilled employees, which is not justifiable. In addition, unemployment is another demerit of working at big firms. If there is recession, redundancy might be a choice in these corporations. In other words, large businesses have thousands of salaried workers and it is not an issue to terminate the contract of 10 earners. However, this is barely in case of small companies, as every breadwinner has a particular position to bring dividend yields to the firm.
In conclusion, after taking into consideration all of the points made above, big companies can be a good choice for having a lucrative job and learning distinct skills, while there are some negative aspects too as prioritizing family members for some roles over others and having no occupation.
