The common aliments of sickness are depression, fear of being alone, decreased immune system, and altered social role. Depression is a feeling of sadness possibly from loosing self worth. The fear of being alone is parallel to neglect. Decreased immune system as the body cells begins to function less or the gradual onset of the cells wearing off process which makes the body prone to different diseases. Altered social role is a change from functional social responsibility to a compulsory rest. All of us will get through the process of aging. If i would not answer literally i would say their most common ailment is neglect. Respect and care for the elderly was a fundamental value in many ancient societies. A very common problem which exaggerates the notion of loneliness is the deterioration of basic communication skills as hearing and seeing. Younger people shall realize that elderly often do not have the ability to understand our speech or see as clearly as younger do. Offering comfort, care and society to elderly is a high priority for a healthy society.
