"Men who lack confidence love to use excuses, and it is their favorite tool for getting through life because it is so easy to avoid responsibility by just making something up, even though it actually does mean that they are lying on a regular basis"
What do "getting through life" and "on a regular basis" mean in this paragraph?

Get through life means to do something very often and usually this thing makes something easy to you. It's kind of like coping with difficulties that you encounter throughout your whole life.
On a regular basis means regularly (every day, month, year etc.)
