Question Hi, there Could you help me with two questions? 1) Let us say your brother walks up to you and says : Someone broke the window.... Would ti sound odd to say "That's whoever broke it's problem"? What could I say instead? 2) Does it sound odd to say "It rained and got my room all wet"? 3) What does "We are roughing it, doing it on our own mean? " 4) Let us say you go to a park and thee is a trail there. Would you say to yor friend: "Why don't we go on/for/take that trail?" or would you say "Why don't we go on/for that hike.?"?? Please, I need your help! Thank you

Hello Gabrielle. 1. It's not my problem. It's not my fault. My brother did it...or...someone else broke it (if you don't want to get your brother into trouble! 2.yes, that's not quite correct. Better to say...It rained heavily and my room was flooded. Or there is a leak in my ceiling and the torrential rain flooded my room. 3.We are roughing it means we are doing something eg living temporarily in a basic way. Not very comfortable. You could say 'we are going to travel around Europe, but because we don't have much money, we are roughing it' (No hotels etc 4.'Why don't we take that trail/go on that trail ' is great! One imagines you have already decided to go on a hike or walk if you are in the park. Hope that helps! helen.

Hi Gabriel, 1) Let us say your brother walks up to you and says : Someone broke the window.... Would ti sound odd to say "That's whoever broke it's problem"? What could I say instead? I am assuming you are saying that the broken window is a problem that should be solved by the person who broke it. Correction: The person who broke the window should solve the problem. 2) Does it sound odd to say "It rained and got my room all wet"? It does sound odd. It may give the impression that something "it" made your room all wet. Correction: It rained and my room got all wet. 3) What does "We are roughing it, doing it on our own mean? " I assume you are out on a camp and doing your chores by yourselves? Correct: We are roughing it by ourselves. 4) Let us say you go to a park and thee is a trail there. Would you say to yor friend: "Why don't we go on/for/take that trail?" or would you say "Why don't we go on/for that hike.?"?? It would suffice to just say "Why don't we take that trail?" The meaning is clear. Hope this helps. Tell me if I have misunderstood any of your actual meaning. Cheers, Mr Lance
