“Match/fit my idea of” - for native speakers of English I listened a bit to the novel “Lolita” as an audiobook. It was read by the actor Jeremy Irons (who I consider an excellent actor) and I didn’t like the way he read it, because when I read the novel myself I created in my mind a different voice for the story’s narrator. So I felt distracted by the fact that the voice didn’t match/fit my idea of how it should sound. And now my question is: is it natural to say “match my idea of” or “fit my idea of” as I just did above? Thanks a lot for your help!
