Help me to understand this sentence "seemingly moribund research establishment" The complete sentence is "He demonstrated the great potential for dynamism and innovation that existed in seemingly moribund research establishment" I cant understand this part of sentence 'seemingly moribund research establishment' Can anyone help me to understand it. "Seemingly moribund research establishment" is just a very ... how shall we say... verbose way of saying "it looks like working in a research field/facility with no prospect". The entire sentence simply means:"he demonstrated great potential and enthusiasm working at a research field/facility that has no prospects." I can't tell if the author is trying to be sarcastic or something...
