'as is usually supposed', 'as it is usually supposed'? Hi guys, I don't see why the subject, it, is ommited after the as in this sentence? Is it a common way of speaking? Please can anyone enlighten me? The domestication of the wolf is by no means so difficult as is usually supposed.

You can say “as it is usually supposed” “as is usually supposed” And even “as usually supposed” I can’t explain to you why and I don’t think there is a rule. All I can say is that they are all used in published books and they all sound fine to me.
