Which sentence is correct? I am waiting for the material arriving from Japan or I am waiting for the material to arrive from Japan.

If if you say 'I am waiting for the material that will be arriving from Japan' it would mean that you don't have a specific action in mind that will be taken once the material is there. If you say 'I am waiting for the material to arrive from Japan' it would signify that you have in mind what would happen next, when the material is there. For example 'It should arrive next week, then I can start the project'.
