1st sentence looks fine to me. 
2nd sentence: 
whenever someone is quoted,we use quotations such as; " " 
I will write it like I think you want to say. 
Mr,John said"My heater is not getting any power and the temperature is going 
below freezing." "Could you come over to fix it"? 
Note heater and that the temperature going down would indicate "below" freezing. 
You could also say"going down,just above freezing."

This is Mrs. John speaking. My heater isn't working and it's below freezing here. Could you come over and fix it?
