I'm seconding James' and Jamie's suggestions. A stroll around Soho and nearby is a great start. Get an oystercard (or travelcard) if you think it's worthwhile: www.oystercard.com And don't forget to have a pub lunch. ^^

Hi Masha, If you like walking, follow the South Bank of the Thames from Vauxhall Bridge to Tower Bridge. The route is about 6km and there are lots of photo-opportunities of some of London's most famous sites, and there are sometimes street entertainers and festivals, especially near Waterloo Bridge. About 3/4 of the way along the route, you will reach the Millennium Bridge, which crosses the Thames to St Paul's Cathedral and the City of London. Earlier replies mention the museums and galleries, which I would also recommend. I would also go along to the Wallace Collection, which is much underrated. You can find more details here: http://www.wallacecollection.org/ Personally, I wouldn't get too excited about shopping in Oxford Street. Too many crowds and not enough quality. If you do venture to that area, head to the Bond Street part of the Street, where you will find Selfridges (just voted the world's best department store), John Lewis and Debenhams. Better shops, including Harrod's, can be found in the Knightsbridge area. There is so much more I could write... Message me if you want to know more. Jamie

I went there some years ago. Although I stayed in Wales (Aberystwyth University), I had the opportunity to visit the most wonderful places in London such us the shops of Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, National Gallery... I loved every minute of my stay there and I hope I'll go there again one day! Have a wonderful trip!
