It was a small plane, a Cessna 406—a bushplane—and the engine was so loud, so roaring and consuming and loud, that it ruined any chance for conversation
What does consuming mean here?
Hi student
The word consuming suggests that the noise that the aeroplane made took away any opportunity for one to speak and futher suggests that the emphasis was on the loud noise not allowing them to speak.
Have great day 🙂
