My name is Keli'i, and I am a Native Hawaiian currently living in Japan.
I have been teaching for the past 12 years to students from Hawai'i and worldwide.
There is a growing interest outside of Hawai'i for people wanting to learn Hawaiian, and so I hope to guide and inspire you on the path to learning this rare and beautiful language.Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I have a solid experience teaching the Hawaiian Language as a first language to youth of Hawaiian-speaking communities, as well as a second language language to students of all ages and backgrounds. I have a degree in Hawaiian Studies/Language from the University of Hawai'i at Hilo, and have gained a reputation within the university community as an alumni bridging the Hawaiian language and culture to other culture's around the world.My lessons & teaching style
I engage the students in learning not only the language but also the culture surrounding the Hawaiian Language. Hawaiian is a highly contextual and poetic language and so learning the culture is key to unlocking the deeper levels of Hawaiian; thus, my lessons are highly engaging and interactive.
My classes are a mix of written and conversational Hawaiian, and can be tailored to the needs of each student.My teaching material

Bachelor’s - Hawaiian StudiesGraduated from the Ka Haka ʻUla o Keʻelikōlani Hawaiian Studies program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. The university and program is known for its deep involvement in the Hawaiian Language Renaissance Movement, and its faculty are the movements leaders.
