Hi, my name is Nicky. I live in Chicago, Illinois. I am a single mother of one child. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work, and I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Education.
I love nature. I respect and value all animals, insects, and plant life. I can sit outside for hours just listening and observing. Nature is food for my soul.
Meeting people from all over the world has given my life so much meaning. I am a very open person. I value all cultures and opinions 🫶🏼.Me as a Teacher
I believe that ongoing conversational practice is the most effective way to become fluent in a language.
Many schools have a language learning curriculum that focuses heavily on grammar rules. In my opinion, this does not help someone learn how to have a conversation.
With that being said, it’s also necessary to have conversations about many different topics. This is the best way to learn new vocabulary and expressions. It will also prepare you to be able to have conversations with others, since natural conversations are typically spontaneous by nature.
I am good at doing this because I am extremely open-minded. I am very comfortable talking about unconventional and sensitive topics.My lessons & teaching style
As we speak, I will stop to make corrections when I hear a mistake. I will also type it into the chat. I believe that it helps to be able to hear it and look at it. 😊
If you don’t know how to say something in English, I will figure out what you want to say and teach you how to say it (I will also type it). This is always a great opportunity to learn new vocabulary.
I will use common American expressions in my speaking (I will also type them as I say them). I will explain the meaning of each expression and give examples of when it’s appropriate to use them.
I will demonstrate correct pronunciation if needed.
