I'm Matias, a language nerd who enjoys cooking and watching movies. Besides learning Swedish and Japanese, I work as an assistant teacher and coach a kids' jiu jitsu team. Having taught kids so much, I know how to explain new consepts in an easily understandable and fun way. Also, playing games and doing different activities is something I enjoy doing with my students.

I'm here to help! No need to worry about making mistakes or "not knowing enough Finnish" since my lessons are relaxed. My lessons have a positive and cheering atmosphere so that you'll feel comfortable speaking Finnish.
I have taught a variety of different lessons and adapt my style to every student. I've helped students pass the YKI test, improve their conversational skills and helped with reading and pronunciation to name a few.
Since I'm from Helsinki, I speak standard Finnish and not in a dialect. I try to speak naturally, as any Finn would speak to you in the "real world", so that you get experience with spoken Finnish.My lessons & teaching style

I am constantly impressed with how Matias approaches language tutoring. We have a great rapport, due to his patience and firm, but gentle constructive criticism. He is highly organized and continues to develop our sessions with creative language exercises and games. He always pushes me to get better in Finnish without driving me too far out of my comfort zone. It is always a joy to have a lesson with Matias and I look forward to continuing to work with him.
