About Me

Hello, my name is Thobeka. I am from Johannesburg, in the beautiful and diverse country of South Africa. I speak and understand 6 different languages and I am a French graduate. I have experience in Online English tutoring and teaching, for both adults and children. I am extremely enthusiastic and passionate about languages and imparting my knowledge and training on languages to those who'd love to learn. In my spare time, I play the guitar, which I have played for 10 years now, I watch a different array of YouTube videos and I pass time with adult coloring books.

Me as a Teacher

I am a young woman who loves to grow and transform as I feel that it is very important for self-development. Therefore, teaching and tutoring allows for a whole lot of growth, transformation and development through learning as you teach. Learning about what I'm teaching, finding new and innovative ways to present material, learning about myself and learning about all the different cultures and countries across oceans from me. In conclusion, I really enjoy teaching and tutoring. I love to engage with learners and assess their proficiency through conversation first. In that way, I connect with them and also get a feel of how far I can stretch them.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe in teaching learners in the way they learn. That simply means that I teach in a way that the learner adapts easier, in a way that helps them process the material easier. I believe in interactive teaching because it allows for more practicality and seeing the learners application of the language. I believe that activities, simple and straightforward ones, are a good text of progress for the learner and for me to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie outside of the spoken language. Lastly, especially for younger learners, I teach in a demonstrative way. Using visuals, demonstrations and activities.
