About Me

Hi! My name is James and I am from the South West of England. I originally went to University for Chemistry but when I finished my degree I realised that it wasn't what I wanted to do. So, I got my 120hr TEFL certificate in 2017 and decided to travel while teaching English online. My other interests include: sports (I love all sports), TV, travel, science, food, music, books, topical news, and really anything cultural. One of the reasons I love travelling is learning more about other cultures and connecting with people from all over the world. So, I hope I get the chance to learn more about you and your culture. Me as a Teacher

I think the most important thing when learning a language is developing the confidence and fluency to feel comfortable conversing in that language. Aspects I focus on as a teacher: -Connecting with my students. If we are going to spend hours talking then it is important that we connect :) -Encouragement. Learning a language means we will make mistakes but that's all part of the journey. -Talking about your interests. I want you to feel engaged in the lesson so that speaking feels easy for you. -Focusing on your aims. We all learn languages for different reasons so it is important that you feel like your are progressing towards your goals.

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons will generally focus on conversation, fluency, and confidence. The more you speak and communicate in a language the better you will become. Sometimes I may provide materials to for us to talk about and discuss such as news articles, youtube videos, or really anything that I think might make interesting conversation for us. If there are specific topics you want to talk about or specific materials you would like to use then I am more than happy to do that too :)
