About Me
italki teacher since Nov 24, 2021
Jina langu ni Elijah Mwiti kutoka Kenya. Mimi ni mzaliwa wa kenya na Kiswahili ni lugha yangu ya asili. Napenda kusikiliza muziki, kutembea na kujionea matukio.
My name is Elijah Mwiti from Kenya. I was born and raised in Kenya and Swahili is my native language. I love listening to music, traveling, and adventure.
I speak English, Swahili, and Kimeru fluently. I share a Kimeru name Mwiti which means a traveler.
I have had a chance to work in a multicultural team for Five years in which I had a chance to help several team members to learn how to express themselves in Swahili. This positions me as I perfectly understand how to make learning exciting and practical for learners.

Me as a Teacher
I am a calm, collected, and patient teacher. I specialize in Swahili basics, Swahili conversation practice, Swahili sentence construction, and general grammar. The teaching materials I use are well organized to meet specific goals of language learning such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, and progressive conversation building.
I do casual classes where we talk about various topics. I also include grammar and vocabulary building in my classes.
Please note I am NOT a professional and I DO NOT usually give strictly-Structured lessons. I DO NOT teach children as I do not have the professional skills to do so. My students are adults of 16 years and above.
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are tailor-made to meet the goals of the student.
My goal is to help the learner speak Swahili however little and thus it is mostly conversation-based.
Mistakes and corrections form part of learning in my class.
I give well-structured homework whenever necessary.
I train in vocabulary, grammar, spelling, pronunciation, and conjugation.
I train both formal and informal Swahili. Formal is the academic one (used in reading and writing) and informal is the day-to-day spoken Swahili.
