About Me

I have a BA (Hons) in Advertising & Marketing Communications & worked for many years as a copywriter, journalist, and a columnist. During my career, I communicated on many different levels; from a subjective, personal basis, employing humour, to creating a company's tone of voice & delivering targeted messages to stakeholders.
Embarking upon an English teaching qualification (TEFL 120 hours with online teaching module) seemed like a natural progression for my career in communications.
I'm a patient teacher who will want to find out your passions, so I can make learning English an enjoyable and fun experience for you.My lessons & teaching style
After establishing your current level of English and goals, I will create a bespoke learning plan for you based upon your individual preferred learning style and interests. Do you need to improve your English for travel, social, or business purposes? Increased fluency & confidence? Or maybe you want to remain abreast with current affairs?
You can choose from casual conversation classes, specific conversation classes (chosen by you), bespoke lesson plans for intermediate, advanced or business classes. Learning with me will be fun and I use a variety of materials to keep you engaged. 2002 - 2003
Marketing Executive The American UniversityIn addition to working as the Chancellor's PA, I led a team of people in the marketing department. We marketed the University to many prospective international students including Africa & Asia. I also did a lot of event planning for the students to make them feel welcome in their new studying environment. We also partnered with other international universities and had to liaise with their stakeholders. I wrote all the Chancellor's English communications personally & professionally.
2003 - 2009
Freelance writer FreebirdsI started as a copywriter, writing advertorials within their travel & tourism section. I worked on the launch of Cyprus Observer where I worked as a journalist & columnist, and an editor in the newspaper's leisure & lifestyle section. I continued freelancing for the agency after returning back to the UK.
2010 - 2015
Copywritwer & Consultant Prickly Pear PRWorking as a copywriter you create the tone of voice and the message delivered to the consumer. This can vary from a paid for advertisement or a below the line exercise in publicity. I ran social media accounts for people with public profiles, reviewed products & services that needed publicity, and wrote a column in a humorous and satirical way.
