My name is Lelona Jones from South Africa. I am 29 years old. Growing up I did not know what I wanted to do as a profession, but I always had a passion to engage with people and help them where I could. Finding out about online teaching opened my eyes to endless opportunities for meeting and engaging with people all over the world. My love for people has since led me to seek a career path that would allow me to meet different people every day. I have a fun and bubbly personality, I love people and I love exploring and learning new things. I am creative and always push myself to learn more than what I currently know. I love to travel, cook, read and write.

Me as a Teacher

As I have just started my online teaching career, I don't have much experience teaching online but I have taught in a community pre-school for 1 year. I was teaching children between the ages of 3-6 years old. My love for teaching developed there and I understand the development process. I have come to understand that a student needs to learn and develop their language fluency. As a teacher, I am friendly, patient, and create a safe space for students to make mistakes, knowing that they will not be judged for those mistake. We all learn through making mistakes, and as the teacher I am here to help correct the mistakes in a caring and respectful manner.

My lessons & teaching style

My teaching style is very much conversational and relaxed. I am here to help you improve your language fluency by having a dialog. I believe that one of the fast ways to learn any language, is to constantly speak it, asking questions and responding in the language you are learning. As your teacher, I am here to help correct your pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and grammar. In my class there will be tasks given, e.g. homework, pop-quizzes, tests. Depending on your level of the language, we can either have a structured lesson plan or more conversational lesson plan to accommodate your goals.
