IMPORTANT: In September, my availability will be close to 0 due to work. I will return in October. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm Ioana, I was born and raised in Bucharest and I studied Anthropology in Cluj-Napoca. Right now I am continuing my studies in Vienna.
I love reading fiction&nonfiction, enjoy going to the cinema and sometimes I study several languages at the same time (I just can't help myself!).
I am a curious being, always eager to learn about other people, interested in the places that shaped them, and learning about the way others see the world. I believe learning languages (or teaching them) can be a great tool in that endeavor.
Me as a Teacher
To me, it is very important to create a space where one will feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking for help, as well as a place that is motivating since we all know that learning a new language can sometimes be difficult.
In our trial lesson, we'll discuss what exactly you want to achieve and see what would be the best way to do it!
In a regular lesson, we'll either tackle a specific grammar lesson, practice the things that we learned or have an enjoyable chit-chat, about anything under the sun - from memes to geopolitics, celebrity crushes, or day-to-day activities.
My lessons & teaching style
Depending on what you want to achieve, my lessons will vary in their design and the resources I will use. Generally, I aim to include a little bit of everything - speaking, reading, grammar, and writing (on request).
Usually, I start from a written sample to learn vocabulary, go through grammar rules, and then conversate about something related to that text.
If you are more interested in having just a dialogue partner, that's great! We can talk about current events, about our daily lives and plans, about literally anything.
If you are unsure if I can help you with what you need or want, feel free to message me so we can sort it out!

It was a pleasure having a trial lesson with Ioana and she is very kind and easy to talk with. She is patient, encouraging, and had good suggestions for what future lessons could look like. I'm looking forward to hopefully taking more lessons soon!

15 Romanian lessons
So this is a review of many lessons, not just one.
I've had the pleasure of having Romanian lessons with Ioana for the past seven days in a row and I'm booking her for almost every day of the week moving forward. Learning Romanian with Ioana is not only an extremely fun and rewarding activity, but she is also genuinely an amazing teacher. Ioana gives me problems to do during the lesson and for homework; she writes everything she says in the lesson down in the chat for me to look at later; she made a drive for me to have lesson PDFs I could look at and review whenever I want.
If you are serious about learning how to speak Romanian, Ioana is your best bet. In fact, I'd book her to teach me any language that she's fluent in :D

Ioana is a great conversation partner! She gave me a great book recommendation to read in Romanian, and now I'm thoroughly enjoying my reading experience that I actually find really motivating and encouraging. We had a really nice chat discussing the book. Ioana is very patient and I feel no pressure whatsoever talking to her despite making mistakes — occasionally pretty basic :) Thank you, Ioana!
