Professional TESOL qualified teacher with 23 years of teaching experience to share with you!
italki teacher since Feb 2, 2022
Hello, my name is Chris. I’m an English teacher here at italki and I’d love to be your next English teacher and help you on your learning journey.
I’m from Manchester, England, a fantastic, exciting city in the north west of England. It is really famous for its music and lots of famous bands come from Manchester such as The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays and Oasis, among many others.
Of course, Manchester is also very famous for football, we have the best team in England right here – Manchester City, and that’s my team!
I have a northern English accent but it isn’t very strong. I am also a singer/songwriter and musician. I very much enjoy painting pictures too!
Me as a Teacher
I have been a TESOL certified teacher since 1999. I first started teaching English in Seville in Spain in 1999 so I have been teaching English for almost 23 years now. I know I can give you the confidence you need to reach your goals!
I have experiece in teaching adult students of all levels, from absolute beginner right through to advanced and I can prepare students for any ESL exams they would like to take. I love my work and get great satisfaction from seeing my students develop and progress as their learning starts to bear fruit and conversations become more fluent. I specialise in pronunciation and have helped hundreds of students have fun becoming more confident and fluent.
My lessons & teaching style
I use the communicative teaching method. This means we talk a lot! We can talk about anything you like, football, food, fashion, music, art, anything! But listening is also very important too. My approach is very relaxed and informal but more importantly, my classes are great fun and feedback from my students is always very positive. If you don't enjoy my classes, I won't enjoy teaching them so my goal is to make them as interesting, fun and enjoyable as possible. For example, I use music in my classes, I like to play a song and give you only some of the lyrics (words) and then let you listen for the missing words, it's great fun but also an effective way to improve your listening skills.
