I am from Minnesota, USA and am currently living in Valencia, Spain. I enjoy learning languages and I continue to study Spanish, Mandarin and Norwegian. My passions include making educational videos, playing piano, camping, hiking and snowboarding. The past 6 years I lived in Colorado working at an immigrant resources center, teaching English and playing in pop bands. I moved to Spain a few months ago in order to improve my Spanish and learn about the culture here. So far I am having a great time!Me as a Teacher
I have taught English for over 12 years in the US, Argentina, China and Spain. I have a Colorado teaching license (culturally and linguistically diverse education), a Masters in International Teaching and a TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). I have taught students from ages 4 to 75 both in person and online. I love getting to know students and learning about their cultures while helping them reach their language goals.My lessons & teaching style
I mainly focus on fluid communication. While students can add to their vocabulary and grammar through readings, videos, books, posts, and other media, they need to consolidate and practice that knowledge by talking with a native speaker. Language input (reading and listening) is readily available in many forms, but language output (speaking and writing) usually requires a private instructor. In my lessons, I focus on the topics that most interest students, guide them toward resources that will build their understanding of those topics, and then spend the lesson time getting them to communicate their ideas fluidly (lots of speaking).My teaching material
