My name is Hannah and I was born in Texas, but I am currently living in Spain as an Auxiliare de Conversación. I enjoy drawing, exercising, reading, cooking, and meditating. Right now I am doing my best to learn Spanish, so I can understand how it feels to be a language learner! I can't wait to help you on your language acquisition journey!Me as a Teacher
I have been teaching for six years. For three years I was an English teacher in Texas, and so I focused on critical thinking skills and text analysis. For the last two years, I have been teaching English as a Second Language, in which the focus is on making grammar and vocabulary engaging and accessible. I am a patient person, and I hope to help you set goals so that you can become the best version of yourself by expanding your skills!My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is based on the needs of my students. I am receptive that the young people now are motivated by media and culture and I incorporate in my lessons a variety of media such as: music, movies, podcasts, art, and books. As a neurodivergent person, I understand that planning and reflection are key in the learning process, so I encourage students to document their perceptions of the lessons and their performance which also helps me to improve my lessons for them.My teaching material

Texas Educator Certificate - State Board of Education in Texas - 2018I was required to take the specific courses during my undergraduate studies and pass three standardized tests, one for each certification. Another requirement was an internship at a local school for three months. I later worked at that same school for two years as a teacher and a coach.

2017 - 2019
Teacher and CoachI taught 9th and 11th grade English. 9th graders are expected to pass a state exam in order to graduate. I focused on building their literacy levels in order to think, read, and write critically. I coached Basketball and Cross Country Running, which required me to ensure the safety of my students and motivate them to give their best in each practice and game.
2019 - 2021
TeacherI taught 9th graders similar skills, but at this school there was more of a focus on English as a second language as 80% of my students were immigrants or came from Spanish-speaking households.
2021 - 2023
Auxiliares de Conversación de InglésI taught English as a second language in a secondary school in Madrid. I created lessons with the goal of using all four pillars of language learning: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. I integrated many visual aids for the students, audio examples in popular songs or the Cambridge English Exam practice questions, and conducted informal and formal interviews. I played a variety of games with the students as well, to reinforce concepts taught directly.
2022 - 2023
TutorI have been a professional English tutor for the past year. I help my students prepare for various English exams such as: KET, PET, and FCE. I prefer working with students who already have a grasp on the English language, as I have been successful in helping motivate my students to improve and persevere with their learning goals. I have taught lower level students before, using toys, games, art, and videos to connect to their interests and create a low-stress environment.
