italki teacher since Feb 25, 2022
Hi, my name is Yujin. I was born and raised in South Korea and moved to the United States 3 years ago. I majored in Korean Traditional Art, and now I am studying UX Design in the USA. I love to talk about Korean culture with the people from different culture and hear about their culture and their life stories. I fell in love the variety in the USA, living with the people from whole different countries. Furthermore, I would like to share each other's culture somehow, so I start with Italki.
Me as a Teacher
In my opinion, one of the most important responsibility of a teacher is to keep students motivated and interested in learning. Students who are applying for my class are willing to know Korea, to work in Korea or whatever by speaking Korean. I will catch the reason why the students want to learn Korean and help them depending on what they need. If a student want to understand what his favorite K-pop star's saying, I will go from there. Watching the star's interview, songs or other videos. If a student want to work in Korea, I will start with business conversation. Doing so, they can keep motivated and interested in Korean.
My lessons & teaching style
While I will be teaching with a professional textbook, I don't want to be strict and a textbook itself. As I mentioned above, to keep my students interested in learning Korean, I will be focusing on the real Korean life. I will make a lot of variation of sentences they can use in Korea to practice speaking with basic grammar, rather than tell them bunch of confusing grammars at the same time and no practice. I don't want my student hesitate and afraid speaking Korean, so I will be helping them being brave by 'just speak'.
