Hi! My name is Chelsea and I would be honored to help you on your learning journey. I am a 24 year old, Mexican-American woman who got their Bachelor's Degree in English from UC Berkeley in 2020. Since then, I have taught English, English Creative Writing, and English Film Analysis classes all online for the TRIO Program during the pandemic. I love learning languages and studied Italian for 3 years at university and self teaching myself Japanese for 1 year. I know how difficult and rewarding learning a language can be. I became a TEFL Teacher because I wanted to provide a judge free space where my students could feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and have fun learning a new language.Me as a Teacher
I am an up-beat, encouraging, and supportive teacher. While my focus is conversational English, I am completely confident in creating lesson plans or mini-lessons for my students who would like a little more direction for their lessons. For students who would like more practice, I can assign fun and engaging homework appropriate to their level. Always open to suggestions and areas for improvement, I make sure we work as a team to comfortably reach your goal!My lessons & teaching style
My trial lessons typically begin with an informal interview, such as your name and a few things about yourself, allowing us to get to know each other while also getting a sense of the level at which you are speaking. From there, we will typically have a few topics the student may choose from and we start conversation over that topic. If the student wishes to have a grammar lesson, subject lesson, or lessons specifically geared towards preparing for certain events such as a job interview, college admission interview, scholarship interview, I can also offer those as well. And students may ask for a mini lesson to base the conversation session on as well. I can also correct and improve essays.5.0
