About Me

My name is Jelke and I was born and raised in the Netherlands where I lived in the capital Amsterdam for several years where I finished a bachelor's degree in International Business and Languages. Dutch is my native language and I have been studying the English language throughout my entire life. I have also studied Spanish, French, German, and Thai. So, I know how tough it can be to learn a new language and I am here to help you with that.

Me as a Teacher

I have acquired a 120 hour Tefl international Tesol certification and a 50 hour ITTT certificate in teaching business English at the Tefl Campus in Phuket, Thailand. At an orphanage in Cambodia I worked as an English teacher teaching children between the ages of four and seventeen years old. I have also taught Thai people between the ages of eighteen and sixtyfive years old. I can apply the skills I developed teaching English to students when I am teaching Dutch.

My lessons & teaching style

The most important aspect of learning a language is to have fun. Without having fun, hardly any progress will be made. I like to keep my classes fairly casual but I am very willing to adjust my class to fit your needs. I am trained to create my own lesson plans and can also help you out with something most students find very challenging, which is grammar. However, we can also focus on developing your conversational practice if that is what you desire.

Ich hatte gerade meine erste Unterrichtsstunde bei Jelke und fand diese sehr angenehm. Wir haben uns über verschiedene Themen unterhalten und Jelke konnte mir schnell helfen, wenn mir mal ein Wort nicht einfiel. Werde definitiv weiter bei ihm Stunden nehmen! :)
