I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and I am a bilingual native speaker of Tagalog and English. I am currently doing my master's program in linguistics at a French university in Paris, France, doing research on Tagalog. I worked as an editorial assistant for 3 years in a publishing company that develops K-12 textbooks both in Tagalog and English. My hobbies include learning new languages, traveling, trying new food, yoga, dancing, and overall having an active and mentally-stimulated lifestyle.
Me as a Teacher
To recount my experience as a teacher, I have experience as an English private tutor in Manila and Madrid. I helped working adults pass the local civil exam in Manila for the English subject. I was also an English language assistant for two years in Spanish public schools for primary grade level. I was also a volunteer online teacher of Basic Korean for a fund-raising activity conducted by the linguistics department of my home university in the Philippines.
I hope my practical knowledge and experience will allow you to trust me as your teacher!
My lessons & teaching style
I will be writing and teach my lessons on conversational Tagalog using a linguistic and experimental approach. If your goal is to be able to express yourself in Tagalog like how a native speaker would do so then I’m the teacher for you! We can do an assessment of your level during our first class and tailor the lessons according to your current level and goals. In general, our classes will focus on speaking, reading, and listening but tests and homework can be given for further improvement.
