Hi! My name is Jeremiah. I'm a Filipino currently living in South Korea. I came here three years ago on a scholarship to do graduate studies and get my MBA. I have recently graduated and I have been working at a company here in Seoul for almost five months now.
I grew up in the Philippines for most of my life and apart from my native language Filipino (Tagalog), I have been speaking English with a certain degree of fluency for more than ten years. I hope to share my language and culture to anyone who wants to learn it and I hope that it will be an enjoyable time for you.
Me as a Teacher
I like to have structured lessons and I want to take my students on a journey to learning both Tagalog and the Filipino culture with various reference materials, audio and visual aids including but not limited to movies, TV shows, music, and the like, and conversational practice. Depending on the level and pace of the student, I will try my best to cater to their needs.
My lessons & teaching style
As with any other language, I believe the context is key to unlocking the thought process, mindset, or just the overall approach one has to the world around them. So we will start with the basics but I want students to have a more practical grasp of the language. In line with this, I will give you first the most foundational grammar of Tagalog and we will work our way toward more specific cases and even informal language.
My teaching style draws from my experience in learning my own language as well as English. I will incorporate those into the way I teach. However, based on my students' condition or method to learning, I can tailor my style to suit them.
