About Me
italki teacher since Jul 19, 2022
Kumusta ka, kaibigan? (How are you, my friend?) My name is Glenna Burgos. I was born and raised in Quezon City and my native dialect is Tagalog. I sing karaoke in my free time. I love singing and listening to English and some original Filipino songs. These two hobbies of mine have helped me to get familiar with English words and form English phrases and sentences. Watching English movies on Netflix with subtitles also helps me a lot to gain new English words. I am a very home buddy person. I spend my time working and preparing my lesson and activity sheets for my students.
Me as a Teacher
I've always wanted to become a teacher. It is my first love. I do love things in relation to teaching. I do believe that in any kind of job, loving what you do is essential for you to work efficiently and effectively. I describe myself as enthusiastic and respectful. As a teacher, I can easily get respect from the students if they would feel respected, too. I am enthusiastic and I want my students to feel that I am highly spirited and eager to teach them well. I know that teacher's enthusiasm sparks the curiosity of students and jumpstarts their motivation to learn. I am also very patient and I have this desire to help them make a difference and get the satisfaction they need.
My lessons & teaching style
Acquiring a second language is a wonderful benefit. If you are multilingual, you have the advantage of seeing the world from different viewpoints, enhancing your ability to communicate in today’s globally connected world. As a teacher, assessing students' prior knowledge allows me to focus and come up with a better teaching plan. I use PowerPoint presentations, give activity sheets, and give students homework which gives them another opportunity to review class material/ lesson. As much as possible, I'd like to have a friendly and relaxed classroom atmosphere where my students and I can openly share stories about our language and culture.
