Hi there! I am Rukiye, a Turkish-English professional translator. I live in İstanbul, Turkey. After my bachelor’s degree in English Translation & Interpreting at İstanbul University, I received a Master of Arts degree in International Relations. I took part in international social projects and lived in Sweden and the UK. I have recently started pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in psychology. I am a calm and positive person interested in meeting new people from different corners of the world. I love creating a space where every individual feels heard. Oh, and I have a fluffy white cat which might at times try to sabotage our lessons! :)

Me as a Teacher

I would actually not call myself a “teacher” but a language partner. I am a Turkish native speaker and can help you improve your speaking skills in my mother tongue. I can promise you a space where you won’t be judged for making mistakes and you will improve yourself at your own pace. That being said, please make sure that you know some Turkish before you reach out to me since I am not trained to teach Turkish from scratch. If you wish, I can help you improve your writing skills in Turkish since I am an expert in developing written content.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe everyone has their own way of learning things and that’s why education should be tailormade to have the best results. After discussing your targets in our first lesson with you, I will have a more concrete idea of what we can do together and how I can help you throughout your language-learning journey. We can talk about specific topics, pick a video on YouTube and discuss it, choose a short news article to talk about during our class, use images to initiate discussions, or simply have a daily conversation. I will share with you tips about learning to boost your performance. Even if you are a busy person, I will help you figure out ways to include Turkish in your daily life.
