About Me

I was born and raised in Ukraine but have been living in Germany since 2006. I love learning languages, reading books and hiking. I know the struggles of learning a new language and would like to help others gain language proficiency the same way I did. I have received my first degree in teaching English and German as a foreign language in Ukraine and then moved to Germany to get a second master’s and PhD degree in cultural studies. I have been living in Germany for over 16 years now and actively use both English and German at work on a daily basis.

Me as a Teacher

I hold a master’s degree in teaching English and German as a foreign language. I have been teaching German or English as a tutor during my student times and recently as a tandem language partner. And before moving to Germany I have taught Ukrainian language professionally to US volunteers in Ukraine for two years. I enjoy teaching and have experience working with children as young as 10 years old and adults of 53 years old. I helped multiple students to prepare for an IELTS exam from a basic language level to intermediate (required for a university admission) within 8 months.

My lessons & teaching style

- each lesson is tailored to a specific student, based on his/her interests; - use of real German magazine and newspaper articles for discussions (simplified to the language level of a student) - use of virtual white board to illustrate specific expressions and words; - engaging students in a dialogue by guiding/leading the conversation through questions; - allowing a student enough time to think of a word/ expression on his/her own (patience is a key) - using word and picture games to make learning fun (e.g. create a story based on the 5 images you can see)
