Hi there! My name is Amia and I have been teaching languages for a little bit over two years. I am so excited to teach on this platform and bring you some Gullah flavor (specializing specifically in Bahamian Gullah - also known as Bahamian Creole which is extremely similar to the form of Gullah in the United States). Come take a class with me before your next trip to the Bahamas to learn about various cultural and linguistic nuances! I am also able to teach English and Spanish! Keep in mind that Gulliah is a variant of English.

Me as a Teacher

I am super friendly and open to all people and cultures. I speak different languages so that’s always a plus (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Bahamian Creole). I am able to teach English, Spanish, and Bahamian creole. My lessons mostly consist of presentations or informal conversation practice. I use videos and other creative content to reinforce positive learning. I’ll get you speaking like a native with my personalized teaching methodology! I understand what it is like to learn a second language or dialect - I’ve been through the process. From flashcards to uncomfortable conversations to wondering if you even enjoy the process anymore. My lessons are laid-back, 30-minute classes. I believe that learning is best done in small chunks daily throughout the week. My lessons are also tailor-made to fit your learning style. I will do whatever I need to accommodate your learning.
