I am a Fashion Designer by profession specializing in bridal and eveningwear and have been doing business for the past 15 years. Having meaningful conversations with people and sharing in their happiness is a big part of the job. I also enjoy TV series, comfort food, music on long drives and some alone time.Me as a Teacher
I value mostly the gift of being heard and understood. Thus, as a teacher I aim to help the student build skill and confidence to express their thoughts and learn how to understand what their deaf loved one is communicating to them. Patiently allowing the student to practice and helping them make the necessary adjustments is key. I enjoy the application of what is learnt so the lessons (vocabulary or scenarios acted out etc.) would be tailored to the individual student.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are aimed at helping the hearing student learn the basics of sign language and deaf culture. Grammar structure, vocabulary and natural signs will be discussed in a very relaxed and interactive way. At the end of each lesson the student will get a short task they can hopefully test out on their deaf loved one. This will hopefully help the student build ties with the deaf community. We will use videos, pictures, acting and drawing.My teaching material
