Hi there, I am Manuel! I was born in the Netherlands and also grew up there. I am half Dutch half Persian, and was raised with both of the languages.
I just received my degree to work professionally as an actor and performance artist (Toneelacademie Maastricht, class of 2023).
I love music, singing and composing, and have a big interest in plants, nature and ecology in general. I also love building decorative terrariums and studying philosophy (climate ethics in particular). And to finish off with a random fact about me, I have recently started composting and playing the viola, and I am absolutely fascinated by both.Me as a Teacher
I have multiple years of experience as a theatre director. This has provided me with essential didactic skills, together with the fact that I have designed and taught a course called Performative Film Making.
Because of my professional education in theatre, I have advanced knowledge on the pronunciation of the Dutch language most spoken in the Netherlands, together with knowledge on the expression of the different accents of the country. Because of my acting acting experience in Dutch, I can definitely help you with finding a way of expressing yourself in Dutch which best suits you! I value a working ambience that is relaxed and informal, yet stimulating and dedicated, and of course one that has enough space for a good laugh! Should you also like to learn to speak the kind of Dutch that is inclusive and contemporary (for instance giving space to non binary pronouns) then we will probably be a good fit as well. I love contemporary culture, so finding good cultural resources that appeal to you personally (podcasts, films, books, theatre-scripts, tv-series, songs, artists) is very possible Lastly: pronunciation. I will (gently yet effectively) correct your pronunciation (with consent of course!). Grammar is of course prioritised as it is the basis of the language.My teaching material
