Hello there, my name is Eileen. It might not seem a Dutch name (which it certainly isn’t, it’s Irish), but I’m Belgian through and through and my native language is Dutch. I’m officially a primary teacher by profession, teaching children between the ages of 6 and 12. Between these children we always have a lot of them who’s first language is not Dutch. It might even be their third of fourth language.Me as a Teacher
I’m very aware of the struggles that learning Dutch brings.
In general I’m a very patient and relaxed person and also with people learning a new language, Dutch on top of that. We have sounds that are just not that common in other language. I have given Dutch lessons to a lot of children who’s first language was not Dutch. So I’m hoping to now extend this knowledge to others too.My lessons & teaching style
I find it very difficult to say this in advance, since it’s my opinion that it’s better to see what a person needs before I start giving a lesson.
I need to know where you stand in the language, what your priorities are and what you goals would be. And of course your preferred learning style.Work Experience

(Extra care) Teacher De BoomhutMy job was to support classroom teachers with their classes. This entailed a lot of different things:
- Splitting up groups into smaller groups and teach this way.
- Offering extra support within the classroom.
- Taking out some students to help them with their individual learning paths.
Because of a serious teacher shortage I worked in almost every class, from the 6 year olds to the 12 year olds.
