I am a native-born Afrikaans teacher with 10 years teaching experience in a bilingual classroom.
As a full-time teacher, I have obtained my BEd Honors in early childhood education which is why I am specialized to teach beginner and intermediate levels. All level students are welcome.
More recently I also gained experience in teaching English to non-English speaking students through an online platform and hearing the progress they have made is very fulfilling. I love the outdoors and cooking meals.Me as a Teacher
Because I believe that teaching is a calling, it is my passion to see growth in every individual through the work we do. Learning a new language is like learning how to walk – you take it one step at a time.
I scaffold my lessons which makes it easier to accommodate beginner and intermediate students.
In a very relaxing and informal environment, I will walk this journey with you to develop your linguistic skills. I am experienced in teaching students of various ages through a fun-filled atmosphere.
Public speaking is another area where I do have experience and would love to share it with you. I make use of props, flashcards and colors to give meaningful lessons.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons will involve helping students develop their use of language by means of games, discussions and songs. I add language development into the lesson with practical activities and immediate corrections throughout the lesson. Homework is optional afterwards.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education - University of South Africa - 2017In order to teach as a Foundation Phase teacher (ages 6 to 9 years), I had to complete my PGCE in Education after completing my BA (HSSS - Health Science and Social Services) in Psychological Counselling.
The PGCE certificate enables me to teach as a qualified teacher (for more than 6 years as Qualified) in a public school classroom.
In total I have more than 10 years of school teaching experience.

This was my first lesson with Janine. She took the time to find out my goals for the language, and then clearly explained how we would achieve those goals as well as her teaching style. Then we got to work. I look forward to my next lesson with her.
