Hello there! I am an American from Denver, Colorado who loves to travel and learn about other cultures, including everything from food, clothing, and architecture to art, music, and literature. It never ceases to amaze me, the many ways that all of these things are intertwined with family life and language in any culture. Language learning is lifelong!
I have an AA in Spanish and BA in Economics with Business Analytics. I have been teaching and tutoring language and business courses online to university students and business professionals for a few years now, am TEFL certified, and am living in an exclusively Spanish-speaking country, doing what I love most - teaching!Me as a Teacher
I have been a personal in-home tutor since 2008, but have been teaching online since September of 2021. Initially, I taught Business Economics and English Essay Writing to University students online, and was based in the USA, but then decided to branch into a teaching job which would allow me to travel! So currently, I teach ESL to business professionals abroad, and Spanish to you beautiful people back home!
Having this unique juxtaposition of experiences with travel, language and business education, and everyday life in Latin America, I find myself uniquely situated to bridge the gap between American and Hispanic culture through meticulously well-researched and custom-tailored material.My lessons & teaching style
Most of my teaching style and strategy is based on the advice of learning experts and polyglots:
1. Since interactive conversation is the key element to language acquisition, I only give out homework that reviews and reinforces class material so you can keep practicing!
2. I try to keep it fun, since learning during play causes massively improved retention.
3. I look for ways to incorporate audial, visual, and kinesthetic elements into lesson plans so that in using all three modalities, your own best way of learning can guide your process, and the other modalities can further cement those mental pathways long-term!
